Keep Iran and India IN and get everybody else OUT of the picture for say, 5 years. The picture won’t be dirty then. US, Pak and China can be made to see logic of it all.
In my opinion the source of all troubles in South Asia is Pakistan, whether you like it or not. But then in all fairness to the people of Pakistan, they alone are not responsible for everything happening in this region.
Firstly, the creation of Pakistan itself was not their doing alone. Yes indeed some of them did fall for the theory that a separate homeland for the muslims of the Sub Continent needed to be created but this idea was planted by the British who had been trying to partition India since the beginning of the twentieth century; the earliest step in that direction being the division of the state of Bengal on communal lines, that is, the infamous “Khilafat Movement”. Having failed to implement that and having been terribly weakened due to two world wars and having realised that they will no longer be able to rule this country they decided to inflict permanent damage on the people of this land as a punishment for having sought independence. They instigated the muslims to ask for a separate homeland.
The blame or discredit for the partition of the country therefore should squarely go to Winston Chrchill and the people of UK. The violence leading to and in the aftermath of the partition is estimated to have resulted in the murder of more than three hundred thousand Hindus , Muslims and Sikhs of the sub continent and ten times as many having been rendered homeless and refugees. The severity of this crime, therefore, is no less heinous than the genocide committed by Hitler in execution of the Jews.
Subsequent fights between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan’s quest for strategic depth in Afghanistan, the US design of enrolling Pakistan into SEATO and CENTO to encircle USSR and the Pakistani governments using these opportunities to acquire arms for use against India, and the subsequent American help to build up resistance in Afghanistan against Soviet occupation and consquent rise of Mujahidin, the Taleban and Al Qaeda are just the sequels to and the fall out of the sins of Winston Churchill. Its a pity that he was Knighted and people address him with a “Sir”.
So, it is not enough to call the present picture in Afghanistan as DIRTY, we must also identify and bring to book the people who have made the picture dirty.
