There is an important report in the Reuters claiming that PLA officers are urging the State to scale up the economic war against US for their recently announced $6.4 Billion arms sale to Taiwan. This is the first time that PLA ‘s comments have seen to appear in public as part of their strategy to check US influence in Taiwan and elsewhere.
The PLA, People’s Liberation Army, is the unified land, sea, and air military forces of the People’s Republic of China. What many people do not know is that the PLA Is the world’s largest military force, with approximately 3.4 million members. China also has the world’s largest standing military forces with roughly 2.25 million members.
Basically, this report states that two senior ranking military officials within the PLA are urging the Chinese government to punish the U.S. for selling weapons to Taiwan.
Taiwan is a hotly contested East Asian island that China claims sovereignty over. Taiwan seeks independence from mainland China and desires to govern itself independently.
The U.S. has gotten itself into the cross fire by supporting Taiwan and selling the country weapons, obviously to be used in the event of a military struggle with China.
China has long considered the intrusion into East Asia by the United States as inappropriate. And now, the PLA is recommending that the Chinese government seek retaliation against the U.S. in the form of the selling of U.S. Bonds.
China holds an enormous amount of U.S. debt securities. As of last October, China held $798.9 billion in U.S. Treasuries. China’s ability and willingness to hold U.S. debt has helped fund Washington’s government spending spree since 2000.
Up until this point, China has been recognized on the world stage as an economic powerhouse. But eventually, China’s economic prowess will morph into immense global political power. We believe we are nearing the time when China will be able to flex its political muscle and the world will have to take notice.
In light of an earlier post on China – The fast growing super power, this blog had argued that the rise of China in the emerging world order would be by flexing its economic muscle…We reckon that time is fast arriving.

Its high time we realize & come to terms with the fact that the China is super power with economic might. Its more scietifically advanced than we think. The concept of Bullet Train with out stopping at any station is really commendable, how they will be able to save travelling time & provide the maximum comforts to Commuters.
The vision is far superior with great fore sight & not bogked down my silly political motives. For them there Nation comes first & they don’t beat the drums.. Organisation of best Olympic games & winning medals in maximum numbers was no mean feat & we are still strugling with Commen wealth Games & trying to win couple of Medals, treatment metted out to Bindra lone Gold Medalist wes National Shame. Its high time we lean from China & make the combined strategies to better than them & block any move which is treat to the Global Security.
China needs the west without us to buy their inferior products n trinkets
Plus there military couldnt withstand any blocade and they have inferior nukes…im not saying china is like france theyre not..any type of war with china and usa would nearly end both
As per a media report the Chinese military university scholars had this to say
“Our retaliation should not be restricted to merely military matters, and we should adopt a strategic package of counter-punches covering politics, military affairs, diplomacy and economics to treat both the symptoms and root cause of this disease,”
Chinese economic pressure on US bonds may adversely affect the health of US economy. Are these the first open signs of the beginning of another cold war?
China has been concentrating on bldg up of its might (mil, economic, business, sports, etc.) over the past many years and is likely to continue to do so for at least some more years to come.
The world knows (incl the US) that it is already a superpower and can give the US a run for its money. However, I think that China is still concentrating on bldg up further strength and not in any mood to take great nations like the US head on.
Such statements are being aired and also being made public probably only to caution the US and the world community that it can and will mean business when it wants to. This is just like flaring its teeth only, not fangs as yet. Though it may not be too far off.
The brash Bush policies of America have tossed them into a spiraling downward crescendo bleeding the US economic and military might. The advocates of SunTzu on the other hand are consolidating economically, informationalising their militarily and learning English to take on the world at a time of their own choosing.
Some day in the not so distant future China will dominate America in all things worldly. Till then the West would have, through their actions, provided political islam enough munitions to bleed America and the West incessantly.
Either way China wins.
