Hasnain proved to be a man with burning fire for humanity and justice. For decades we have not seen such a man in Indian uniform, with a human heart. Every one may or may not have been moved by Hasnain’s work or sincerity but the fact is he lived up to what he said and believed in Awam, understood the local psyche and more importantly trusted in public and never stood for public atrocities but for public comfort, convenience, empathy and worked for the much needed calm and peace tirelessly even beyond his capacity.

It therefore emerges that Indian initiatives in Afghanistan would be undermined by Pakistan and its proxies till Pakistan understands that a peaceful Afghanistan has greater scope for progress being the vital land bridge between Central Asia and South Asia. Strategically the recent thaw in relations between India and Pakistan on the economic and security fronts may suggest both may converge on Afghanistan. But this is a tough ask given the current political and military condition in Pakistan.
